Gardens of the Malverns

Date/Time
Date(s) - 07/09/2025 - 08/09/2025
All Day

Location
Leicester Bowling Club

The trip involves an overnight stay,  in Abbey Hotel, Malvern. This enables us to see gardens further away without too much coach travel. Last year we had a very successful trip to Suffolk gardens. This year we are heading to the Malverns:

Please note, departure time from Leicester Bowls Club is 07:45 on Sunday 7th September.  If you are parking at the Bowls Club, a donation of £3 per car will be required – this will be collected on the day.

As you will see, unfortunately due to family circumstances, Perrycroft House & Garden recently took the decision to cancel all group visits for 2025, however we are delighted to have managed to replace this with two visits.

The first is to Stockton Bury Gardens, which you may have seen recently on BBC Gardener’s World (26th June).  It is still available to watch on BBC iPlayer: Gardeners World – 2025: Episode 15 – BBC iPlayer if you would like to take a look in advance of your visit in person.  It’s thanks to the persuasiveness of Sue Blaxland that we secured this garden as they weren’t keen on taking a group that weekend, and having visited it previously, Sue was sure that you would enjoy the visit.

Due to timing (i.e. travelling between the two venues over the lunchtime period), we strongly advise you to please bring along your own packed lunch on day 1.

The second is to a lesser known gem – Hellens Manor.

Located in Much Marcle, the house dates back to 1057 and showcases a blend of architectural styles from the 12th century, with Tudor, Jacobean, and Georgian additions.  The gardens feature a Tudor and Jacobean-inspired design, showcasing elements like a yew labyrinth, an octagonal dovecote, a physic garden, a knot garden, and sprawling grounds with ancient woodlands and wildflower meadows providing scenic views of the Malvern Hills.

Printed copies of the itinerary along with luggage labels will be available to collect on the day of departure.

The trip is being organised by SuccessTours, the company that organise our summer holiday.
