Message from our Chairman
As we are heading to the end of October bringing Halloween and then Bonfire Night it is a reminder that we are fast approaching the end of our programme for 2025 with the Friends Evening on Thursday, 13th November at Leicester Bowls Club meeting at 7.30pm.

As many of you will know, this is an opportunity for members to share with others their interests in gardens, both at home and abroad as well as general topics of interest relating to gardens.  We already have several items lined up for the evening, but we are looking for additional submissions.  If you have a short presentation ranging from 5 to 15 minutes in length, please contact us if you are interested in sharing it.

For the evening, we would like to put together a selection of member’s photographs from this year’s events and visits. If you are able to submit a favourite photograph or two with a short caption or comment to Steve Horsfield (steve@horsfste.plus.com), he will be able to combine them into a power point presentation to show on the evening.

Deborah is looking for members to write their thoughts about the Trust on Christmas tree decorations which she will provide. These will hang on the Trust’s Christmas tree for the Evington Church Christmas Tree Festival.

We are also planning another new feature at this year’s meeting which is a ‘Bring and Buy’ table for any surplus or unwanted Gardening and Garden History books that you longer require. Any money raised from this will be allocated to the Education Group to support their activities with schools. Any books left over at the end of the evening will be donated to a local Charity Bookshop.

As with previous years we will be providing some seasonal refreshments on the night of wine and soft drinks and some mince pies and other goodies.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members for their support over the past year and it has been a pleasure to see new faces at meetings. I hope that as many of you as possible will be able to come in November.
Yours sincerely
Stephen Barker
Chairman Leicestershire and Rutland Garden Trust
