About Leicester and Rutland Gardens Trust
We were founded in 1997 and are part of a national network of Gardens Trusts, who act as a kind of English Heritage for the landscape. We are affiliated to the Association of Gardens Trusts.
Here are some of the things that we offer to our members:
- Visits to gardens and house not always open to the public.
- Evening lectures by specialist speakers including an annual ‘Celebrity’ Lecture.
- Study days – to learn about the history, design and development of specific gardens.
- Short breaks, visiting gardens in the U.K. and overseas.
- Social events, including a Winter Lunch and a Friends’ Evening.
- Newsletters twice yearly.
- Research activities that you can get involved with.
We also comment on significant planning applications affecting parks, gardens and landscapes in Leicestershire and Rutland.
All our events offer a chance to meet other members and we pride ourselves that we offer a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
